Appearance: The fenvaria are an odd race as they have a kemonomimi like appearance, but can be divided into two distinct sub groups, canid and feline. The largest subgroup is the canid subgroup which features several human-like features like a human face and human-like torso with several wolf-like features. This subgroup has fur that covers their legs, arms and neck. They also have pointed canine-like ears, stand on plantigrade legs, canine-like eyes, and finally they have a tail. Their fur is quite similar to that of a fox or a wolf in texture and pattern. It is also rather thick and warm due to the colder temperatures of their home land, as well as waterproof. Their fur tends to be in shades of browns, tans, blacks, whites, greys, and other natural-looking colors. They also have canine ears, which rotate and help the fenvaria locate prey or noises. As for canine facial features, sharpened canine teeth, and excellent eyesight. The canine teeth are razor sharp and used to tear into flesh.
The feline-like subgroup features several human-like features like a human face and human-like torso with several cat-like features. This subgroup has fur that covers their legs, arms and neck. They also have pointed feline-like ears, stand on platigrade legs, feline-like eyes, and finally they have a tail as well. Their fur is quite similar to that of a lynx, mountain lion, or bobcat in texture and pattern. Like that of the canid subgroup, their fur is waterproof and warm. Their fur tends to be in shades of browns, tans, blacks, whites, greys, and other natural-looking colors.
Overall the species experiences sexual dimorphism between males and females. They are quite similar to humans internally but they are different externally. They have a tail which makes them better at running than humans as the tail can be used to keep the them balanced. The fenvaria also have claws on their fingers and their toes that can be retracted when walking and daily use then extended during combat or when they are walking on rough terrain. Their ears rotate and help the fenvarian locate prey or noises, but can be quite sensitive.
Development: Fenvarian has many canine characteristics; however, they do not go into a season of heat or a mating season like people would think. Instead they have a menstrual cycle like humans. With the female being fertile up until the age of sixty. After sixty, fenvarian females become less fertile until they reach the age of eighty; where they enter into full menopause. fenvarians also tend to be monogamous often having one pair until death, divorce or some other incident happening. Mated pairs are not established quickly upon the loss of a mate. Instead, a fenvarian will typically go into a short depressive period; this is a response to the emotional trauma of losing a loved one. This is a means of dealing with it efficiently and thereafter moving on.
A baby fenvarian is called a pup. Since the fenvaria are mammals they reproduce like mammals, meaning that females would have a single viviparous pregnancy. This process would typically take nine months and would result in a litter. Litters are usually made up of two to four pups.
The pups retain all of their senses after birth, however, it is common for them to have amber irises after birth. But, after two weeks, this will usually change to either brown or some other color. Also, a pup's fur color will typically be very light tan or white when they are first born, but at three weeks the pup’s coat starts to change to the color of their subspecies. However, they will develop their own patterns and markings. Also at this time, their ears start to become erect and hardened, either becoming canine or feline-like. Pups typically during this early developmental process will feed on breast milk, which is produced by the female’s breasts. After four weeks they will switch to artificial milk and then solid foods once they have developed sufficiently.
