Before the rift the Nyaki lived in the jungles of their world. They lived among the beasts, building their cities and fighting the large creatures that roamed their world. Suddenly they were ripped from their world and found themselves thrust into a strange new environment. Facing the new world they suddenly had to adapt to a hostile world. They fought and killed the enemies at the gates, and began cultivating their jungle. Over the last few centuries they have grown the jungles of Central America to suit them, turning them into a hostile environment for all but them and their beasts. Giant cats roam the forests, picking off those unaware, while the Nyaki themselves stalk through the jungle. Come the modern day they have the most drastic of environments. You move from jungle to city and back, with nothing in between. The towns outside of the cities blend into the jungle, disguised in the trees.
